Pregnant man?

According to an ABC News story, a transgender man — and former Hawai'i resident — claims he's five months pregnant.

Here's the CNN story.

The story ran in the gay rights magazine The Advocate, complete with photos of what appears to be a very pregnant Thomas Beatie.

Beatie was born a woman named Tracy Lagondino. He underwent reassignment surgery to appear as a man outwardly but kept his reproductive organs. (Meaning, he still has his ovaries and uterus.)

The baby — conceived with Beatie's wife, Nancy — is due July 3.

It seems possible. I mean, if he's kept his uterus and ovaries, couldn't he get pregnant?

Got an opinion about this? This it's real — or a well-planned hoax?

confusing. i heard about this on the radio this morning...i guess it's possible though. you would think that years of taking testosterone injections would mess with the internal organs and all but...well...come July we'll know for sure!

Well the legal definition of a male or a female is their genitalia. It's still a woman if he has a uterus, vagina, and ovaries that actually work, so really its just a woman with messed up cosmetic surgery.

How confusing. I too agree with DaBomb. I mean, I have no problem with the whole transgender way of life, I just don't want to go out with them. More power to them if that is what they want to do with their lives. Not my life, who am I to say right or wrong. But what would make me mad is if I was dating a girl for sometime, then they told me this. I would prefer they just put it out there (no pun intended) from the start. How would (s)he get pregnant anyways? Wouldn't there need to be a working penis somewhere in that equation? Maybe I misunderstood the article...

Talk about a B.S. headline. Although this may now be a man legally, he is not a man biologically. When a biological man gets pregnant, then let the papers use the headline that they did. Until then save the sensationalism for something else.

Probably it's a lie. But I'm still scratching my head over a documentary about a man who became a woman and then a lived as a lesbian. I've gone to great lengths to meet a woman, but that's just mind boggling.

Believe it or not, but there was a comic about that in Japan called Family Compo. The gist of it is that the main character's father dies (the mother died years before) so he goes to live with his aunt, uncle and cousin. The only thing is, it turns out his "aunt" is a guy and his "uncle" is a woman, but they look so convincing in their roles, you can't tell. The "uncle" is a manga (comic) artist and all of his assistants are cross dressers too.
