Friday's Matchups

I went four for four yesterday as UNC blew out Washington State, Lousiville " upset" Tennessee, UCLA again made the game closer than it should have been in beating Western Kentucky, and Xavier held off West Virgina. My picks for these Regional Finals is what they have been all along, UNC and UCLA. However, no one except UNC is playing as well right now as Lousiville, so an upset there is possible.

Later today, its Michigan State-Memphis,Texas-Stanford,Kansas-Villanova, and Wisconsin-Davidson. The best match-up is Texas-Stanford. Now that we all know Robin Lopez, Stanford's 7 foot Center is dating Michelle Wie, i guess Stanford is the local pick. I'm going with Texas with this game being played in Houston. Memphis-Michigan State is an interesting match-up. Everybody keeps waiting for Memphis to lose. They can"t make free throws, but I still say they get by Michigan State before losing to Texas on Sunday.

In the Midwest, no one is going to deny Kansas a trip to the Final Four. Wisconsin gets by this year's George Mason, Davidson, in a close game, before losing to the Jayhawks,

I will going to San Antonio late next week to " cover" the Final Four for this blog and my radio show. I look for 3 number one seeds, UNC, Kansas, and UCLA to join number 2 seed Texas in the Final Four. Your thoughts on today's games, this weekend's games, and the Final Four await your fellow bloggers.

Kansas is a lock to reach the final four. I've noticed that even defensive teams don't go far. There are too many good pure shooters and players to keep them at bay. If your a defensive team like WSU was, how are you going to keep up with scoring teams that can pour it on. You simply can't match them basket for basket. You need production off the bench in todays game to keep the pressure on your opponents like UNC does. The finals is gonna be a shootout if you ask me.
