Update on 'The Bachelor'

They may have called off their engagement.

But Lt. Andy Baldwin — star of last sesaon's "The Bachelor" — and the final-rose recipient, Tessa Horst, were spotted at the inaugural Ford Ironman Louisville Triathlon yesterday.

Baldwin finished the 2.4-mile swim, 112-mile bike and 26.2-mile run an impressive 43rd overall.

"It was amazing," he wrote me in an e-mail today. "Tessa ran down the chute with me and I picked her up and carried her across the finish line and gave her a kiss. My parents were there, and my little sister. They've never seen me do an Ironman before. It was a very special moment."

This was their first public appearance since the announcement of their marriage postponement.

The couple called off their made-on-TV engagement earlier this month, saying, in a joint statement, that they're still "very much in love and committed to our relationship."

I guess we'll have to stay tuned!

Andy should leave the Navy, finish his medical residency in San Francisco, and enter private practice there.

Then Tessa will agree to marry him and they will live happily ever after in SF.

I knew those 2 wouldn't last. Like I said, she didn't seem as in to the whole marriage concept as Andy did. He should have gone with Bevin. Bevin, although, psycho, would have married him in a heartbeat. I think Tessa still wants to play, if you know what I mean.

I usually don't care much about the Bachelor stuff, but its nice to see these guys taking their time, and given that at least in some ways, they're still together, that has to be a decent sign. They were smart enough to realize the pressure of engagement wasn't helping at the moment.

without having seen the show but knowing andy personally, it was all just too damn backwards. what 'love' can survive after getting all caught up in a moment of celebrity/novelty/etc.

i'm sure they are just trying to get to know each other now before taking any huge steps. the love COULD survive all this, and seeing them together in that shot tells me that they are indeed working on it. there was chemistry but their lifestyles just need to harmonize more. you know?

anyway. i really hope they find it.

Andy and Tessa are a lovely couple. I for one am very happy for them and would love to see everyone else very positive and upbeat for them.

Andy has certainly tried to lend his help in making the Hawaiian community a better place. This says much in terms of the person he is.

I am a great fan of andy and tessa. I really hope the relationship works. They really seem to be in love with each other. The media is ruining their privacy and relationship.

I was hoping to see their wedding being televise. I still hoping. I am glad andy carry tessa across the finiosh line and also tessa showed up for his run.

I think it's greta that they are still committed to making it work. they seem like two very genuine human beings who do love each other. There is nothing wrong with deciding to take it slow and maybe he would like to propose with his own ring at his own convenience. Why does their decision to not be engaged mean they don't truly love each other. The bad rep of "THE BACHELOR" has left everyone a pessimist. There are still those who really can make something like this work. My money is on them.

You know....the more I think about it....we are all leaving comments whether good or bad because we actually watch these reality shows. I must admit some of the women selected are just so ridiculous and needy but then there are women like Tessa who are classy and beautiful. They make a great couple...why can't the negative viewers just be happy that they are getting to know each other and in the end it's their decision..did those of you who have nothing positive to say - watch Trista and Ryan on the Bachelorette? Four years later..still married and proud parents of a new son!!!

Does all ANDESSA FANS know that Andy gave Tessa a Hawaiian gold engagement ring in July, I heard that he got down on his knees to ask her to marry her and that this ring was more meaningful to Tessa than the Chopard ring he gave her on the show the picture of the ring was on his personal My Space, so as far as I know they are an engaged couple and I wish them the best, we should be happy for them as they are trying to have their relationship a private matter and build their love for one another as private citizens and I don't read and believe those tabloids unless they make the announcement themselves. How does Andy Baldwin know Moana Dixon from The Bachelor in Paris? From her myspace page it seems like they are pretty close friends.

I guess it's not a romantic connection, though, because she is engaged to someone else and planning an August wedding.
