Quarterback Jake Santos has joined the Warriors as a non-scholarship player.
Santos, who is 6 feet and 205 pounds, was a top player at Saint Augustine High School in San Diego three years ago. He once threw a CIF-record eight touchdown passes in a 62-10 victory over Scripps Ranch High.
He then played at Mesa Community College and attended Missouri Southern this year.
Although he will have to sit out this season in accordance with NCAA transfer rules, Santos is expected to be invited to training camp in August. He is attending summer school at UH.
The other UH quarterbacks invited to training camp are: Colt Brennan, Tyler Graunke, Inoke Funaki, Kiran Kepo‘o and Shane Austin.
Bryce Kalauokaaea, who parcticipated in spring practice, is not expected to compete in training camp. He is eligible to join the team Aug. 20, the first day of UH's fall semester, when the
NCAA-imposed roster limit is lifted.

In the recent NCAA West Regionals in Eugene, the UH track and field team finished 17th — which is impressive when placed in the proper context.
The Rainbow Wahine finished ahead of 20 other schools, including Washington, and were second among WAC teams.
The Rainbows had only seven participants.
Novelle Murray finished second in the discus to Arizona State's Sarah Stevens. Murray and Stevens will continue their season-long duel at next week's NCAA Championship.
UH's other NCAA representative will be Annett Wichmann, who earned an automatic berth after placing first in the heptathlon in the WAC Championship.
Three top athletes, including Careena Onosai, a 2006 Word of Life graduate who is transferring from UCLA, will join the Rainbows in the fall. That should keep the Rainbows in the running for a while.
