I'm getting my fix of Warrior Football right now. I'm watching the 2006 Idaho game. Just pau the 1st Qtr. Idaho played tough for the first 15 minutes, but it's all over now. They're gonna put up 21 more points before half time.

AWESOME, ST! This is what I've been waiting to see. My goodness I think our O-line is going to rock, baby!

Hisatake vs. Letuli at LT is going to be a battle royal.

AhSoon gets the early nod at LG because of his experience, but Ginlack played pretty well at RG last year and the loser of the Hisatake vs. Letuli battle may drop back inside.

Interesting to see Hansen at C. I thought Lefiti was going to be #2 there.

Ieru would be a huge RG for us, but Lefiti may be the guy based on his rep out of high school. Didn't see enough of Lipp or Lafu last year.

I gotta believe that Kia has the edge here, at least until LaCount shows up in the fall. Could LaCount pick things up fast enough to start at LT? Can't wait to find out.

Kind of curious why Daniel JOhnson hasn't made more of an impact. He was all state out of Washington I think. And what happened to Travis Campbell and Manu-Olevao?

Read today's HA on JJ's dispute over $400K. Funny I never heard he disputed that at the time he quit. He's relying on a 2003 verbal. Moa betta for UH the legal guys fight dis one out, no love lost here. True, I would have negotiated that away at the beginning of 07 if he'd asked. But the way he left really hiked up my panty.

I was going to post this after reading ST's post. I guess WarriorMojo and I have been thinking the same thing about the OL.

Interesting to see Hansen at C. I thought Lefiti was going to be #2 there.

I thought that Lafu might be the #2 center, but if he has the starting RG spot then I guess he would focus on just that position. If Estes got hurt, I thought that they would slide Lafu over and someone else would take the guard position...but I haven't seen the workouts and this is just my projection from last year.

Guard would be a good fit for Tuioti-Mariner as he would be able to concentrate on blocking and not have to worry about calling schemes for the entire O-Line.

No matter how you look at it, the interior O-Line looks solid, and spring ball will bring out the best tackles.

The starting offensive lineman who just quit Michigan's team really got some things off his chest. His father also played for Michigan, so this is a long-time relationship that has gone bad.

Offensive lineman Justin Boren is not leaving Michigan quietly.

Boren, who made 14 starts for the Wolverines, received his release papers on Wednesday and will transfer after completing this semester, according to his father, Mike Boren, a former U-M linebacker.

A day after Michigan coach Rich Rodriguez announced Boren had decided to leave the team following four spring practices, Boren issued a somewhat vague statement saying, in part, that the "family values" he had grown accustomed to while playing for Michigan had "eroded in just a few months" under Rodriguez.

"Michigan football was a family, built on mutual respect and support for each other from Coach Carr on down. We knew it took the entire family, a team effort, and we all worked together. I have great trouble accept that those family values have eroded in just a few months. That same helmet that I was raised on and proudly claimed for the last two years, now brings a completely different emotion to me, one that interferes with practicing and playing my best and mentally preparing for what is required.

http://brahsome.com/2008/03/27/kenneth-page-appears-to-have-a-large-bag-of-bills-for-an-amateur-athlete/

It’s pretty safe to say that each and every academic institution in America doesn’t have the cleanest reputation when it comes to participating in Division I athletics. We like to turn a blind eye most of the time, but when we get the following email (with the above picture attached), it’s pretty hard to ignore.

This pic was on Clemson recruit Kenneth Page’s Myspace page and it came down about as quickly as it went up. As some of you know he was a huge 4 star OL football recruit
this past year and it came down to Clemson and UNC where [UNC] lost out on signing day.

He must have been working hard this winter.

Now, one would assume that Kenneth — whose Myspace page you can see here — would be smart enough not to have a picture taken of himself in the backseat of a car, wearing a Clemson orange polo shirt and holding a huge bag of straight-from-the-bank $20 bills. On the other hand, we thought Kelvin Sampson could quit texting his players by now.

So we did our due diligence and checked up on his Scout.com page as well, and frankly, it’s pretty hard to argue that it’s not in fact Kenneth in the photo with the bills. It’s entirely possible that Page just has a really rich grandmother who likes to hand out wrapped bills in plastic bags, but either way, you gotta figure Kenneth and Lil’ Bobby got some explaining to do.
Permalink 03/27/08 @ 05:54
Yes, Clemson recruit Kenneth Page could have some explaining to do. According to the site Brahsome, Page posted this image on his MySpace page and "it came down about as quickly as it went up." Unfortunately for Page, somebody grabbed it during those few precious moments.

Page, an offensive guard from A.C. Flora High in Columbia, S.C., was graded a four-star recruit by Rivals. He picked the Tigers over North Carolina, Notre Dame, Georgia Tech, South Carolina and Tennessee. Golly gee, wonder why? As Brahsome points out, those are "straight-from-the-bank $20 bills."

The NFL again is looking into the possibility of allowing a designated defensive player to wear a radio earpiece similar to the coach-to-quarterback communicators already in place.

Teams are expected to vote on the proposal next week at the annual league meetings in Palm Beach, Fla. The proposal, which needs 24 votes to pass, fell two votes shy a year ago.

"I don't want to get overly confident about a vote, but I do feel that its time has come," Rich McKay, Atlanta Falcons general manager and co-chairman of the competition committee, said today in a conference call with reporters.

Both offensive and defensive coaches objected to previous versions of the proposal. Offensive coaches wondered why defenses needed the devices, which allow teams to send in adjustments without using hand signals, and defensive coaches were concerned about how it would be handled if the radio-wearing player wasn't part of a particular package and therefore was watching from the sideline.

McKay said the focus on New England's illegal videotaping of defensive hand signals could make teams more willing to vote for the defensive helmet radios.

Good Thursday Warrior nation.

Great lineup for the '08 season.

Question -
1. Who is the backup for our " Iceman" Dan Kelley.
2. Who will replace punter Tim Grasso ?
3. Would Jake Ingram be considered 3rd man for Center posistion incase of injuries to Estes and Hansen.

These are 3 critical posistions that can make or break the game.

I guess now would be a good time to mention that I don't like the beta site for the Advertiser either... I think it looks too busy.

New blog looks blah. I can't read it. I'll need to get glasses.

Oh by the way,
GOOD MORNING EVERYBODY!

We got an inch of snow this morning between 4 and 7 and now the sun is out shining bright. When will Mother Nature make up here mind?

I don't care what JJ says was "said". Especially if it was from HF. The contract was not reworded and that is that. Leigh should have demanded that. Or did they "trust" HF?

JJ, just pony up, k?

Go Warriors!

Are you kidding me??!! I guess that the Honolulu Advertiser has determined that the vast number of WB readers are ants or something, because that's what you'd have to be to read the new site!

I hope this is a beta site and input can be given to make it better!

Permalink 03/27/08 @ 06:59

Ronnie,

It was a beta site, but now it's going to be the new site. When I first learned about it on Kim's blog, I complained there, then I sent an e-mail to tell them I didn't like it.

Have you seen the home page? Talk about information overload, I think they tried to cram the whole paper on the home page.

OK, I just woke up.
So here are the best answers I can provide:
• To organize spring ball, there has to be three distinct teams. So while some guys may be listed at No. 2, if this were an actual game situation and No. 1 went down, someone other than the No. 2 might slide over.
• Grasso is in Utah this semester. He returns in August.
• Ingram's backup is going to be ... Ingram. Yes, his younger brother joins the team in August.
• Another Temecula kicker walks on in August. He'll serve a year as an apprentice to Kelly, then take over in 2009.
• I left off the heights and weights because the weights vary so much at this time of year. For instance, Salas is listed at 185. He's 205 now.
• And I have no idea how to code the other site, which is why everything came out in one paragraph.

Loa,
I wouldn't put it past HF to say he did say it, whether he did or not, just so that UH will be out $400K. I don't think however, that it will release JJ from having to pay the penalty unless something more tangible comes up to back it up. HF was removed for not doing his job soooo...

And the boosters should get half the kala or at the very least, all the money should be put into the football program exclusively. IMHO

Try clicking on the honoluluadvertiser.com banner above the date. It doesn't take you to the Honolulu Advertisers homepage, it tries to take you to the blogs front page which doesn't exist.

New site:
I agree. I don't like it at all.
Mostly because I can't find my darn blog.
First, the color isn't Advertiser red.
Second, the format is just like another paper's.
And it's too hard to read the comments. I don't like jumping from page to page. How the heck are we supposed to do chats?
But there are a lot of geniuses who get paid a lot of money who make these decisions.
It's all above me.
And, Gigi, you might not have a choice. The blog might be on the move permanently.

Good morning Tsaikos: Bulla, and those visually challenged (includes me)- In Windows and IE you can use Control plus the "+" or minus "-" keys to zoom in or out of the page. Should leave your hands free of binoculars. LOL
BTW still used to the old format

Haka-

Good point.

What about the other $400K ponied up by donors? JJ should do the honorable thing and give that portion back as well. 400 G's can go a long in helping our program in other ways.

re: JJ.
My take is that this gets settled.
We can all say a contract is a contract, but he coached the five seasons of the contract, gave UH the biggest season in its history and made the athletic department a lot of money.
This debate is being held at the Upper Campus level.
But if UH sues to get JJ to pay, then it's going to be very difficult to atract a top-level coach here.
This arrangement only benefits the bad coaches who get fired before their contracts expire.

When JJ left my thoughts were he gotta do what he gotta do for himself.

With this morning's article about his "cockaroach" attempt it shows his true self. It was always about the money. Nevah mind about his professed love for the land & people of Hawaii, his book and his foundation. Money truly is the "root of all evil" and in this case da kala got a hold of him, all $10,400,008 worth.

Just like when family starts fighting over an inheritance. Money & Greed can really make things ugly. In this case of JJ, it's the wrong shade of green.

Be a man JJ, practice what you have been preaching to your players for the past 9 years. Honor your commitments & maintain integrity. Garans if it was Coach Mac, he would have paid the $400,008 due.

Mahalo ST for your prompt reply on my questions. That makes my day to read about our backups in place.

For some reason, I thought Grasso was gone for good. He is a darn good punter too. Hate to lose him, and need him to mentor the next punter in line. Jason Elam Jr. perhaps? :>
