Um...Fisher Hawaii fan site...

OK so I went to your beta site and I'm kinda not feeling it. I liked the fact that you could choose where you would want to go from the left hand bars. On your new beta site you have to look for the heading and then choose your interested, complicated. I also think that the new log in procedure isn't gonna sit well with your blogs and such. To much hassle to log in and enter your info and stuff. I like the fact that I can remain anonomous and type my comment and be out. I assume that most of your posters on the blogs do it from work and it might make things complicated. I was initially going to create an id just to test it but stopped when it started asking for my age and other personal info. Sorry, but I think it might cut down on your currently popular blogs.

I don't like it. At first glance it seems too generic, maybe "too slick" can be too slick. The current site kinda reflects the look of the paper, while the new site obviously doesn't (unless the paper is being redesigned to match).

No matter how fancy you make your front page, no matter what Web 2.0 bells and whistles you may add, until you release your back issues freely, as the Star Bulletin does, this will always be a second-rate website.

Thanks, homey, for your comments.
We'll be highlighting our staff blogs beyond the navigation once the homepage is fully filled out. You'll see these in the promotional spaces, such as under the rotating carousel. The reader blogs will be highlighted in the community space.
I'll pass your suggestions on placement of the various features to the folks who make the decisions. Much appreciate it!
In the navagaion bar, put your cursor on Opinion, a bar will appear right below with different links. "Staff blogs" link is all the way on the left.

re the beta site: Where's the link to the blogs?

I would move the current/breaking news, sports, business, etc. (like how the hardcopy newspaper is organized) to the top of the website. Move the community and community news to the bottom. Put the ad space on the left side on the bottom left and move the links on the left higher up so the user doesn't have to scroll too much.

That's good information, Hank. I would add that before you hand over an official death certificate, ask the bank or whoever needs one if it will take a copy instead. You can then save your official certificates for those times when you really need them.
Actually mine has nothing to do with tech stuff. If I start to get in a rut, I'll go downstairs and grab a snack then take in the fresh air. Sometimes I even walk around to get the blood flowing. There's some things that even technology can't help. BTW, Firebox.com has a whole bunch of fun to use at work.

i'm sorry to hear about your loss...my dad passed away 6 1/2 years ago...it wasn't until his passing did i realize there's alot to do (legally) when someone passes on. being organized is good because most times you're not in the right state of mind to deal with other issues at that moment. one thing i'm really trying to work on, and telling anyone of any age who'll listen, is get a payment plan going for a funeral plan/plots. you can't bury someone until everything is paid in full. that's alot to deal with plus the huge expense that could be.

good tip Largo!! i know alot of people just ignore those free offers, take advantage of them, every little counts! not to mention, if you can afford it, the upgrades are normally pretty cheap. another tip is to try and live within your means so that besides that family jade ring, you're not leaving behind a ton of debt as well!

Here's a simple calculator to figure the annual cost of paying for gas.

Banks and Credit Unions often give $1,000 of life insurance coverage free to the account holder. Leave a note to check with each financial institution because if the survivors don't ask about it, the institution won't volunteer the information.
i've heard negative things about Costco gas before, but i've been using them the last 6 years on my car and haven't had any problems. i do use premium and am not sure if thats the difference. the hubby also puts in some kind of something or other additive in the tank once a year...as long as costco is still the cheapest...i'm gonna keep on going there.

What? Me paying $3.37 at Waipio Costco and it wasn't the cheapest gas on the island? Is the 2 Costco prices different when it ocmes to gas? I'm pissed. Now it makes me cuirous if the "gas-cap" would have helped or not. I just think there's people out their getting rich by riding this gas craze. We need to somehow stick it back to these people. Vote Obama!
Largo - Unless Costco gets a different batch from Aloha Petroleum, the gas shouldn't be the culprit for your clogged fuel pump.

Aloha gas is certified as a Top Tier detergent gasoline.
